What is the Affirmative Consent GameChange project?
Consent GameChangers, LLC is a for profit venture that was formed to help bring the changing conversation about consent to the next level. Affirmative Consent conversations have always been necessary, but they have become even more necessary now that we are beginning to address the challenge of verbal affirmative consent and permission when students and young adults find themselves in sexual situations that they may not be able to comfortably address. We seek to provide the tools necessary to have these conversations, and to educate and inform those individuals who are looking for this information.
This company was formed by three individuals who, at various stages, have been in the very situations that verbal affirmative consent addresses, although they have never had cause to seek legal remedies or measures.
Having said this, they have been part of the direct audience that this project is meant for: average young adults who are looking for ways to have necessary, albeit uncomfortable, conversations with people who may be relative strangers, but are about to become intimate partners.
As we said, these conversations can be uncomfortable, but they are extremely necessary. Whether the most effective approach is policy, or simply education, remains to be seen - but the process has begun, and the Consent GameChange project is working to provide as much information, and as many resources as possible for all sides of the issue.
The need for consent conversations has taken center stage with heated debate on both sides of the issue, especially with the glaring spotlight on campus sexual assault, and the remedy for addressing these situations. We realized that there is a lot of gray area concerning addressing and remedying these situations, and that not enough attention is paid to the individuals seeking help in both learning about and addressing these circumstances.
Consent GameChanger’s mission is not to take a side in the policy debate, or the legal process concerning affirmative consent. Our main objective is to provide information and updates about verbal consent as it makes its way through the legal process, whether via campus policy, executive branch leadership or through legislative procedure.
We will strive to report the advent of policy and procedures, while also engaging the demographic and individuals that this policy effects most affects – young adults, in particular, college students.
We know that there is already a presence of educational resources concerning affirmative consent, in the form of student handbooks, campus groups, and non-profit organizations that offer workshops and classes on the subject.
Our goal is to bring all of these resources together in an organized way, so that we may assist the public in finding all of the information they seek in one online portal. We have already amassed a database of more than 300 articles and posts that follow the advent of affirmative consent policy and legislation, while also pulling together information on the universities and other groups already addressing this issue. We have gathered external information that both support and oppose these policies, and strive to present both a non-partisan, and multi-sided approach to the information we offer.
Verbal Affirmative Consent is an extremely important issue, and we hope that the Consent GameChange Project not only educates and informs, but also provides the necessary information and resources needed to change the conversation.

The Consent GameChange Project was developed to change the conversation leading to Verbal Affirmative Consent. Our goal is to make the uncomfortable conversation between relative strangers who are seeking to become intimate partners, more comfortable.
Our overall mission is to provide the resources, tools, and information about the subject of Verbal Affirmative Consent needed to make informed decisions, ask the right questions, and deepen the conversation and agreement between two consenting adults.
