As students prepare to head back to college campuses in the fall, Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the "Enough is Enough" college campus sexual assault bill, officially making it law.
The signing took place on July 7 at New York University School of Law in New York City, where Cuomo was joined by assembly members, senators and sexual assault victims.
At the event, Assemblywoman Deborah Glick, D-Manhattan, the sponsor of the bill in the Assembly, said the law will "ensure that students and institutions alike understand the new ground rules that will protect all students in schools across the state."
Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan said, "This new law will combat and root out sexual assault so our college campuses are safe learning environments for all students … New York is now stepping out in front, as a leader, again. This is a benchmark."
