Orange County is now the first county in the nation to adopt the "It's On Us" campaign to fight sexual assault through education and bystander intervention.

The announcement came Thursday at the county's Emergency Communications Center, with a unified showing of support from county government, law enforcement, social and victims services provider, schools and colleges.

The event began with a graphic video short by the producers of "The Hunting Ground," a movie about sexual assault on college campuses, showing how sexual assaults can unfold. When the lights in the auditorium came back on, the room was silent.
