With students visiting pumpkin patches, scrambling to put together Halloween costumes and preparing for spooky festivities, campus is abuzz with excitement for Halloweekend.
While Halloween is, of course, an exciting time for us when it rolls around each year, this year’s Halloween calls us to reflect. Specifically, we are reminded of horrific events that occurred within LMU’s community exactly one year ago.
On Halloween night last year, a female student was allegedly raped at an off-campus party on the 8700 block of Yorktown Avenue. A year later, despite the offer of rewards totaling $70,000, the perpetrator has not yet been identified. In light of this case, we at the Loyolan are committed to providing the community with ways to ensure a safe and fun Halloween.
